Anglo-Français de Petite Vénerie

Breed Group: hound
"Name's a little tricky... Just call me “The Hunter."
Breed Profile
The Anglo-Français de Petite Vénerie is a rare breed from France who share their resemblance and personality traits with Beagles and other hounds. These hunting pups have a strong prey drive and sense of smell that can keep them busy for hours.

Behavior

The Anglo-Français de Petite Vénerie is a hunting dog through and through. They can follow a scent for miles and won’t give up until they find where its source. They also have a strong prey drive, so small animals and rodents don’t stand a chance around these pups. AFPVs are also known to “bay” or howl, so they usually are best-suited for country living.

Coat

The Anglo-Français de Petite Vénerie’s coat is short and dense and can come in orange, white, black, and tricolor patterns. AFPVs are average shedders and don’t need much grooming. Brushing them once a week should be plenty to gather any loose hair and keep their coats in good shape.

Lifestyle

Anglo-Français de Petite Véneries are hunting dogs that are happiest in packs. They prefer living in rural or country areas where they can roam in the woods (on a leash, of course), howl to their heart’s content, and take in all of nature’s smells. AFPVs get along with children, but they may see small dogs, cats, and other animals as prey.

Activity

Anglo-Français de Petite Véneries like to have and job and stay busy. They especially love when their families join in and put them to work. Whether its a long walk, a hike in the woods, or any activity that engages their senses, AFPVs enjoy getting their heart pumping with you by their side.
