The Danish-Swedish Farmdog is a friendly, easy-going work dog, that handles many tasks well. They’re used on farms for herding, alerting intruders, playing with family and children, and they make ideal companions.
Behavior
This high energy pup loves working! Energetic and friendly, you won’t find that this dog sitting around basking in their beauty. They love to herd animals and perform all kinds of agility and lure coursing sports. They're intelligent pups who will learn tricks of all kinds when they're not too busy protecting the family. They do need a lot of exercise and a good authority-figure to follow. This dog was bred to work and will be happiest with some type of job to do or playing one-on-one with their humans. Since DSFs love chasing game, make sure to keep them on a leash when they're relaxing in an unfenced area. These dogs also love to swim and play in the snow, so outdoor time will guarantee a contented canine. When socialized young, they will happily share their home with other animals.
Coat
The Danish-Swedish Farmdog is often mistaken for a Jack Russell or Fox Terrier, due to their very similar colorings. They have small mainly white bodies with large patches of black or brown coloring and short, thick fur.. Their faces are usually black or brown but may also have colors that include some coloring of chocolate brown, black, red, or tri-color. Their coats are short, smooth, and thick and need occasional brushing to remove dead hairs.
Lifestyle
The Danish-Swedish Farm dog is generally lack back, but they do sometimes exhibit their more energetic personality. They get along with most everyone and do great in families, where they make great playmates for children and adults alike. They may bark at strangers. Because of their active natures, these dogs are not suited for apartment living. A home with a big open yard, and an active family would be the best fit for these pups.
Activity
DSF are versatile dogs, and they love to explore the world around them. They are intelligent and love to learn tricks and play with their families. They need a variety of these activities each day to remain happy and helpful. They are fun to train, and they love to learn, so be prepared with a list of fun things for this dog to do.
