"I’m a red-hot redhead!"
Breed Profile
With their ravishing red coats and chatty habits, the Finnish Spitz is a wonderful family dog whose appearance is as charming as their personality. They’re big on barking and exercise, so lace up your tennis shoes and get your earplugs ready.

Behavior

The Finnish Spitz is smart, brave, lively, and alert. They don’t ask for affection and attention; they demand it. These dogs are wonderful for families and are especially fond of kids. Although they’re loving with family, the Finnish Spitz is more aloof when it comes to strangers. Whether it’s greeting a new visitor, chasing an animal in the backyard, or telling you how they feel, this dog shows all of their emotions their loud bark. They were bred to bark, so if you’re looking for a quiet, calm companion, this breed may not be for you.

Coat

These cute redheads have double coats of thick, medium-length hair. Their fur may be reddish-brown or yellow-red. Despite their longer coat, the Finnish Spitz doesn’t shed much and does a good job of keeping itself clean. They need to be brushed at least once a week and may need a bath every few months, but other than that, their grooming needs are minimal.

Lifestyle

The Finnish Spitz is a friendly, playful dog that makes a cute companion for children and adults. They’re very protective of their owners and will bark at everything, so they aren’t a good fit for apartment life (where noise may be an issue) or homes with lots of other animals. As a people-loving pup, the Finnish Spitz is better suited for a house that offers plenty of space and human companionship.

Activity

The Finnish Spitz is an active dog needs at least 20-30 minutes of exercise each day to keep their minds and bodies happy and healthy. Without enough activity, they often bark and get into trouble. These dogs love going for long walks, running with their owners, and playing dog sports, such as tracking, agility, and flyball. They’re also very smart and will learn new tricks and training quickly.
