Japanese Terriers are sure to brighten your household with their cheery attitude! They are smart, good-natured, goofy lapdogs. Japanese Terriers have a short, glossy coat that is easy to maintain. Brush occasionally to manage dead hairs and bathe as needed. However, Japanese Terriers weigh less than 10 pounds and are susceptible to the cold. If not living in a warm climate, you might have to put together a nice wardrobe for these silly pups!

Japanese Terriers are 100% indoor dogs. They may play outside, but they enjoy most of their time inside entertaining their families. These small terriers are a good match for a single person or a family with older children. They are sweet and playful but can be fragile, which is why they are not recommended as playmates for little ones or large pets. As far as doggie friends, their ideal companion is another Japanese Terrier.

You’ll find Japanese Terriers will keep one eye on you and one eye on the squirrels. They’ll chase them as you take them for a daily walk or bounce around the backyard. These small terriers are extremely playful and will also happily retrieve a ball thrown for them. Smart and energetic, they are always up for new games and activities!
