Polish Lowland Sheepdog

Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are happy, alert, animated, and smart. They’re devoted to their families but may be less confident or wary around strangers. Polish Lowlands also have an independent and stubborn side, so they choose when to behave and when to disobey. Most of the time, though, you’ll find them to be very well-behaved and be impressed by their memory.

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog has a long, shaggy double coat that’s wiry on the outside and soft underneath. Their usual colors are grey and white or grey and black. Because the Polish Lowland’s coat is so long, it needs daily brushing and combing to stay clean and tangle-free. If you skip too many days, it may become matted and need to be cut.

This breed is wonderful with kids, dogs, and other pets. However, they can get carried away with small children, so it’s smart to supervise when they’re playing together. Polish Lowland Sheepdogs don’t mind visitors, but they may bark loudly whenever strangers approach, making them better suited for a house than an apartment. Polish Lowlands like playing outside, but they should primarily live indoors and be around people.

Due to the Polish Lowland Sheepdog's history as a working dog, they need lots of activities that stimulate their mind and provide a change of scenery. These dogs need at least a few short walks each day, and they also enjoy games and sports, like agility training, playing catch, and chasing frisbees. Without enough activity, the Polish Lowland is known to get messy and destructive.
