Sealyham Terriers, also known as “Sealies,” are easygoing couch potatoes who would choose a nice, long nap over a trip to the dog park. Their size and personality make them a good fit for just about any setting and any family.
Behavior
Sealies are mellow dogs that love being independent yet in control. Sealyham Terriers also are watchful pups and will patrol the backyard for rodents and animals to prey on. Next to hunting, a Sealyham Terriers’ favorite activities are relaxing and spending time with family. Deep down, they’re good-natured dogs that just want to sit back and be by your side.
Coat
Sealyham Terriers have coarse coats of medium or long hair. They don’t shed much but need to be brushed frequently, taking special care to get tangles, food, and dirt out of their beards. In addition to regular brushing, Sealies need to be stripped twice each year to keep their hair healthy and tangle-free.
Lifestyle
This breed’s size and temperament make them great dogs for apartment life in the city or large homes in the country. Sealyham Terriers are wonderful companions and get along well with kids, dogs, cats, and other pets. Their low activity needs and relaxed personalities mean they’re happy anytime, anywhere, and with anyone.
